APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR THE NICKLIN YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL 2022
9th February 2022
Young people aged 16 -25 living, working, or attending school in the Nicklin Electorate are being urged to apply now for the Nicklin Youth Advisory Council 2022
Robert Skelton MP, Member for Nicklin, said “Our area has a high number of young people, who have both pressing concerns and impressive ideas”.
“The Nicklin Youth Advisory Council (NYAC) seeks to capture and act on this, in addition to giving young locals valuable insight into government and political processes, which will help equip our youth to better advocate for themselves and others” Mr Skelton said
As a member of this group, participants will be asked to:
• provide advice on relevant local and state issues from a youth perspective
• provide input on communication strategies (regarding local and state policies) for young people
• Contribute to submission of Parliamentary Committees and/or other government inquiries which occur throughout the year
• Engage with other young people and report on their attitudes and opinions
“We are seeking a diversity of views, ideas, experience, and backgrounds, so if you are aware of anyone who may be interested in participating, I encourage you to put them in touch with my office.” Mr Skelton said
NYAC will meet quarterly, with a trip to Parliament House during Question Time also proposed over the coming year. Participants attending all meetings will be provided with a certificate of recognition.
Applications can be made online at www.robertskeltonmp.com.au/nicklin-youth-advisory-council, closing 10pm Monday, 7th March.
